Yoga has been a blessing and I believe kept me out of a wheelchair! 

Born with Arnold-Chiari Malformation (ACM) which went undetected for the first 48 years of my life turned out to be a blessing!  By that time, I had also developed Syringomyelia which is a fluid filled cyst within the spinal cord.  My medulla oblongata had become elongated and wrapped itself around my spinal cord creating a couple of tiny tears.  I was beginning to leak a  tiny bit of spinal fluid!  This was causing very  uncomfortable and painful symptoms .  Doctors never found anything in the earlier years of my life.  They said my symptoms were stress related.  From my mid 30's to middle 40's, I tried walking, jogging, and  finally found a Kundalini yoga class.  The yoga was where I began to feel better.  Little did I know back then that walking and jogging were not something I should have been doing!   Unfortunately, the yoga classes ended as the community college was closed.  The  symptoms progressed and by my late 40's  I was experiencing some serious issues from total  numbing on my right side, developed swallowing issues, hearty laughing gave me a headache, and much more!  Surgery was performed and 4 and half inches at the base of my skull was removed to allow the cerebellum to relax and release the pressure on the medulla oblongata which was aggravating the syringomyelia.  I AM Now A 'Chiari-Yoga Warrior"!  A Survivor!

My passion is to help others that have conditions that cause them to not feel their best for whatever the reason.  I believe practicing Yoga improves our health making us feel better, healthier and happier!  Yoga helps the body, mind and spirit connect with each other and opens us up to a greater understanding of what a miracle our bodies are!
